WHAT IS IT__

The Michigan Music Business Club is a fast-growing and highly sought-after organization on the University of Michigan's campus, with a limitless pool of students eager to join. We aim to leverage this reputation to make our first-ever conference an unparalleled success, one that will continue for years to come. We hope you choose to share in the journey.

 

Our mission is to educate, empower, and prepare the next generation of executives, tastemakers, and power-players in the music industry. The conference will not only offer an incredible opportunity for club member but for the greater University of Michigan student community as well.

 

This event will bring the best in the music business to some of the brightest college students in the US, raise industry awareness on an exceptional pool of young, hardworking students ready to make an impact, and introduce Michigan students to the multitude of opportunities that lie within the music industry. ROB GIBBS

In his new role as Partner and Co-Head, Atlanta at UTA, Rob Gibbs will join UTA Atlanta Co-Heads Rich Paul, Arthur Lewis, and Steve Cohen to help grow the agency’s footprint across music, sports, film, fine arts, television, podcasts, and more.

 

Prior to joining UTA Gibbs was the Head of Music at ICM Partners where he was the first African American department head of a major agency music department. In addition to his role managing the global music division, he works with a top-tier client list which includes J. Cole, Ari Lennox, PartyNextDoor, Chris Brown, Roy Woods, JID, Bas, Earthgang, Cozz, Lute, Omen, SoFaygo and Mike Dimes.

LEE DANNAY

Lee Dannay is a career A&R and artist development executive, with a successful history of senior management roles at Sony Music (both Epic and Columbia Records) and Warner/Chappell Music Publishing. Lee has signed, developed, and worked with a broad range of artists and songwriters throughout her career, including John Mayer, Brandi Carlile, Glen Hansard, Iron and Wine, The Jayhawks, and Gavin DeGraw. Currently, Lee is VP/Head of A&R for Thirty Tigers, a Nashville based independent label services company that offers marketing, distribution, and creative services to a diverse and prolific roster of independent artists, including Corinne Bailey Rae, Bruce Hornsby, Amos Lee, Lo Moon, Béla Fleck, Tennis and Brian Fallon, among others. Lee is also an adjunct professor at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, serves on the Board of Governors as a voting member of the NY Chapter of The Recording Academy where she co-chairs the Music, Education, Mentorship and Philanthropy Committee, and is on the Advisory Board for Music Will (formerly Little Kids Rock).

NOAH SIMON

Noah Simon is a global music agent for leading talent and entertainment company United Talent Agency. Based in Los Angeles, Simon plans and executes live touring strategies across worldwide markets for a diverse roster of pop, hip-hop, R&B, soul, funk, and jazz clients. He spearheads international tours for Post Malone, The Kid Laroi, Jacob Collier, Jamiroquai, Masego among many others. He is passionate about Artist development and takes a creative hands-on role in establishing the foundations for young artists to build prosperous careers.

GARETT KOEHLER

Co-Founder & CEO of Detroit-based music company Assemble Sound, which started in 2015 as a DIY, multi-genre, free recording space built in a vacant church in Detroit. Over the past 7+ years their operations have evolved to include a sync licensing and supervision company that works with global brands and content creators, artist management services, an independent record label, and a joint venture label with Atlantic Records. Garret has a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Philosophy & Conflict Resolution) from Miami University, and he's terrible at making music himself.

SYLVIE KONNER

Upon immediately graduating from Indiana University, where she studied Music Management, Sylvie began working at AG Artists in June 2016. As the first employee, Sylvie joined the team as an assistant, and over the years began running point on all things digital, which has led her to current role as Head of Digital Marketing & Artist Manager. She has worked across every project for Shawn Mendes since 2016, including 5 albums and 4 world tours. Since spring 2022, AG Artists has expanded their roster to include JP Saxe and Lauren Spencer Smith, so she now runs digital for their projects as well, in addition to being an artist manager for Lauren Spencer Smith. Originally from New York, Sylvie now lives in Los Angeles, California.

TYLER EILENBERG

Tyler Eilenberg is the Director of Creative Innovation at Republic Records - focused on storytelling and elevating the modern fan experience through new technologies, platforms, and mediums. Prior to Republic Records, he worked as a Creative for Universal Music Group and as an assistant in WME’s music department. A UMich Economics graduate, he was involved with music companies such as in2une music and Sony Music while pursuing his degree. Tyler adamantly believes Frita Batidos is the best restaurant in Ann Arbor.

JON SUMNER

Entering the workforce at the young age of 16, Jon Sumner has worn most hats the music industry has to offer in his first decade of working. From concert promoting, label A&R, event production, streaming analytics, product marketing, artist management, DJing, producing, mixing, you name it, he's got some sort of experience with it. Now, after growing his career for almost 7 years at Spotify, Jon leads the music product innovation team. It's imperative to know both where the music industry is headed over the next few years, but also take part in driving the ship as a young leader at the world's largest music streaming company. He also continues to grow his own artist project, DJ career, and label as passion projects in LA.
